What makes the Church of Scientology the most hated religion?
I do not understand why the Lord Mayor of Melbourne speaking at the opening of the new Scientology headquarters has garnered so much media attention. Would the media be covering this if it was for another religious group? If he was speaking at the opening of a new Catholic church would we even hear about it?
I wonder what kind of thought goes through someones head to believe that the atrocities of the Church of Scientology outdoes atrocities of other religions. Scientology has done some horrible things to people. Christians have a long history of doing horrible things, especially the Catholic sect. I shouldn’t even mention the disgustingness of the Islamic belief.
Is it easier to accept the evil of a particular religion if more people believe its nonsense? Scientology has a minuscule following in comparison to the Catholic Church. Why does mass acceptance of irrational belief equal normality? It does not make a religion less delusional because excessive amounts of people follow that particular delusion.
The head of the Catholic church is an evil dispicable man, yet he is still revered by millions. He is responsible for the rape of many children, can the same be said of Scientologies number one? With this fact in mind, does the Lord Mayor’s attendance of this function still seem news worthy.
This news also brings up talk about the Church of Scientologies tax-free status. The removal of this is something I agree with thoroughly. This could hopefully lead to the removal of tax-free status of all non-charitable religious entities.
I hope in my lifetime it is frowned upon for any person in a high profile public position to speak at a religious function. I also hope to see the tax-free status of all religions removed.
